ALIGNING FUNCTIONS TO THE GOVERNMENT STRATEGIC DIRECTION ON HEALTH

The functions of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards include the implementation of public health and sanitation policies, provision of preventive and promotive health services, policy development for human resources in healthcare, management of health education, and reproductive health, among others.

 

 

 

To effectively fulfill the State Department’s mandate, it is crucial for all directorates, parastatals, regulatory bodies, and divisions to collaborate and work towards a common goal.

To improve efficiency, the State Department is committed to expediting the amendment of existing laws to eliminate duplication and overlap of functions.

In order to ensure professionalism within the healthcare workforce and guarantee the safety of Kenyans, we are currently mapping all health cadres to ensure proper regulation and oversight.

Given the constrained fiscal environment, I stressed the importance of prudently utilizing available resources.

The ultimate objective of this convening is to align all branches of the State Department with the government’s strategic direction, which is to achieve Universal Health Coverage through the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda model (BETA).
